Update from Severn Trent on Water Pipe Replacement Project
The Parish Council received this courtesy email from Severn Trent about the upcoming replacement project for the water pipes. The letter sent to the residents of Burton Lazars is also attached.
Hello Waltham Parish Council
I wanted to introduce myself and let you know about a big pipe replacement programme that we're undertaking that will benefit the residents of Waltham.
Historically I know that our Waltham customers have suffered water supply issues due to a number of bursts and we're very sorry about this. Severn Trent has undertaken mitigation work to reroute supplies and issues with bursts have been much reduced. In order to fix the issue permanently we're investing £7.5m to replace 15km of the big trunk main from Burrough Barsby to Waltham and this work starts later this month.
Although the actual work starts in Burton Lazars and won't directly affect Waltham residents until we work there later in 2022, this first stretch of pipe replacement will be key to securing the supply for residents in Waltham as it will protect the supply into Waltham reservoir.
On completion in Burton Lazars at the end of October we'll then be working across the fields and private land up towards Waltham. I will of course let you know when those dates and details are firmed up.
For information, the attached letter is being sent to residents in Burton Lazars today.
I hope this is useful but if you need any further information please don't hesitate to get in touch.
