SAVE LIVES - SLOW DOWN
Please find here information on how our roads are being made safer:
Save Lives - Slow Down.
We all want to arrive safely at our destination. By slowing down we make our roads safer for our children, families and friends. Research shows that a 5% cut in average speed can result in a 30% reduction in the number of fatal road traffic crashes.
In response to concerns raised to us by you and local residents, through Neighbourhood Link Surveys, Social Media and Face to Face Interaction we have completed the following speed enforcement in November at the following locations, see the results below:
A606 Ab Kettleby. 1 visit, 100 minutes = 11 offences.
A606 Nottingham Road, Melton Mowbray. 2 visits, 207 minutes = 9 offences.
A607 Melton Road, Waltham on the Wolds. 1 visit, 109 minutes = 2 offences.
A607 Norman Way, Melton Mowbray. 1 visit, 120 minutes = 0 offences.
Think the police should have better things to do than pick on speeders?
Everyday 5 people are killed on UK roads.
We think that's well worth our attention.
Excessive speed is identified as one of the 'Fatal Four' main causes of collisions resulting in fatal or serious injury.
The careless and dangerous actions of one motorist can have devastating effects on the lives of others.
We're urging motorists to travel within the speed limit, pay attention and take care at all times and to ensure their vehicles are in good condition and winter-ready before heading out on to the roads.
